Preserving History, Creating Beauty

Norm Lanier 1965

Hi, I’m Norm Lanier, the founder of Archive Prints — but more importantly, I’m a lifelong creator. Since childhood, art and photography have been at the center of my world. What started as a passion for drawing and coloring eventually grew into a lifelong journey of creating, restoring, and preserving beautiful imagery.

In high school, I discovered my dad’s old 35mm camera, and from the moment I clicked the shutter, I was hooked. That passion led me to pursue a degree in photography, where I first learned the power of capturing and preserving moments in time. Long before Photoshop existed, I was restoring my family’s vintage photographs by hand, teaching myself techniques to recover faded details and revive lost colors.

As technology evolved, so did my creativity. I fell in love with this new thing called a Macintosh computer and began exploring the intersection of art and digital design. That passion led me to work as a Senior Graphic Designer for companies like Exxon, Compaq, and HP, where I had the privilege of shaping visual identities for some of the world’s largest brands.

But as great as those roles were, I wasn’t creating for me. I was helping others bring their visions to life — and deep down, I knew I wanted to create something of my own.

On my 50th birthday, with the unwavering support of my wife, I walked away from the corporate world to follow my passion full-time. I wanted to build something meaningful — something rooted in craftsmanship, creativity, and history.

Today, I lead a small, passionate in-house team dedicated to restoring, preserving, and printing historic maps with museum-quality precision. We work tirelessly to bring forgotten stories back to life and create pieces that feel as authentic and timeless as the originals themselves.

At Archive Prints, we believe history deserves to be preserved and celebrated. That’s why we combine ultra-high-definition digital restoration with archival-quality materials to produce prints designed to last for generations. Each map includes a historical letter that explains its story, and many come with a Certificate of Authenticity to make them even more collectible and gift-worthy.

Creating art has always been at the heart of who I am, but Archive Prints is about more than just beautiful maps and photos. It’s about preserving stories, connecting generations, and celebrating the craftsmanship of the past.
